Filming, visual effects and animation

The review aggregatorRotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 68% based on 181 reviews, with an average rating of 6/10. The site's critical consensus reads, "It isn't as much fun as the little blue guy's greatest games, but if you enjoyed the first rulle, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 serves as a generally acceptable sequel."[88]Metacritic assigned the spelfilm a weighted average score of 47 out of 100 based on 33 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[89] Audiences polled bygd CinemaScore gave the bio an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale (same as the first), while those at PostTrak gave it an 87% positiv score, with 74% saying they would definitely recommend it.[56]

In February 2022, Sega of amerika and Paramount Pictures confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and a Knuckles spin-off miniseries were in development.
